Encirq to Address Real-Time In-Vehicle Data Integration Strategies at Telematics Detroit 2006
Session to highlight ways automotive and telematics companies can integrate continuous data streams to build better vehicles, new business models
BURLINGAME, Calif., May 15, 2006 – Encirq Corporation, the leading provider of data-centric software for intelligent devices, announced today that John Smolucha, vice president of marketing, Encirq, will speak at Telematics Detroit 2006, May 23-24, at the Rock Financial Showplace in Detroit, Michigan. Telematics Detroit 2006 is an annual event recognized as the world’s largest automotive telematics event. Mr. Smolucha will facilitate a 45-minute workshop titled, “Harnessing Data Streams for Next Generation Telematics Systems,” on Tuesday, May 23, at 12:15 p.m., and again on Wednesday, May 24, at 2:30 p.m.
Mr. Smolucha will focus on the growing variety of data sources available to telematics systems and how the future of telematics is being driven by an increasing amount of continuous, real-time stream data. He will highlight innovative methods for leveraging these streams to produce more capable vehicles and telematics systems, new services and new business models resulting from real-time, in-vehicle data integration. Mr. Smolucha is also scheduled to participate in a panel session on Wednesday, May 24, at 12:15 p.m titled, “New Roads For Telematics: A Glimpse Into The Potential of Machine to Machine Markets.” This panel will explore the commercial potential for telematics in emerging industries including personalized telemetry, insurance, healthcare and energy.
Automotive electronics are being transformed by access to information outside the vehicle, the rapid migration of consumer electronics into the vehicle, and a growing number of electronic in-vehicle sub-systems and sensors. Manufacturers are looking for ways to integrate the real-time digital data streams emanating from these various sources to improve the competitiveness of their products and enable new services and revenue streams. Manufacturers are also seeking ways to reduce the time and costs of bringing these new data-driven capabilities and services to market.
With over 15 years of industry experience, Mr. Smolucha possesses an in-depth understanding of the challenges facing manufacturers, service providers and software developers. Prior to Encirq, Mr. Smolucha served as the director of Business Development and Strategy for the Wireless and Mobile Systems Group at Freescale Semiconductor, where he was responsible for building wireless developer communities. He also served as the vice president of marketing at Metrowerks, a leading provider of device software development solutions.
